George Phillips “Billy” Revells, age 90, of Roanoke Rapids, died Sunday, May 20, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Billy served in the US Army. He was retired from the Weldon Coca Cola Bottling Company after more than 30 years of service where he was a production manager. He attended the First Baptist Church in Gaston where he was a” number one bell ringer”. He enjoyed being around people and always looked forward to his daily chats with the mailman, Joshua Richardson. He was known in the neighborhood as the man that could fix bicycles for the kids.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to his caregivers, Cynthia Hammack and Eloise Perry.

Preceding Billy in death was his mother Omar Woodruff; sister, Judith Faye Johnson and a cousin, Ralph Harris.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel J. Revells, of Roanoke Rapids; daughter, Renee R. Claiborne (Michael), of Garysburg, NC; niece, Dee Barnes (Jerry), nephew, Eddie Johnson; sisters in law, Lucille Odom, Carolyn Clay, Ruth Joyner (Mack); brother in law, Henry “Buddy” Johnson (Barbara); special friend, Odell Harrington; many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 12:00 noon today, Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Cedarwood Cemetery with Rev. Julian Mills officiating.

Wrenn, Clarke, & Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service is taking care of arrangements where the family will receive friends Tuesday, May 22,2018, at the funeral home from 11:00 until 12:00.
