Franklin Delanor Pearson, Sr., 83, passed away to his eternal home in glory on Friday, October 2, 2020, at Vidant North Hospital. Mr. Pearson was a 1956 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School and was a talented baseball player and statewide horseshoe champion. Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for two years. He started his career as a lineman with VEPCO (Virginia Electric Power Company) in October, 1960. VEPCO later became NC Power where he retired as substation foreman in June, 1994, with 34 years of service.
Mr. Pearson is survived by his wife of 60 years, Effie Etheridge Pearson, formerly of Weldon, NC. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Pearson, and is survived by daughters Odell Holliday (Jason) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; Nancy Turner (Harry) of Dinwiddie, VA; Frances Pearson of Roanoke Rapids, NC; son Frank Pearson, Jr., (Misty) of Chester, VA; and grandchildren Ashley Turner of Dinwiddie, VA; Owen Turner (Whitlee) of Chesterfield, VA; Scott Morris of Raleigh, NC; Trey Pearson of Chester, VA; and Landen Grey Morris of Roanoke Rapids, NC.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 5, 2020, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Wrenn Clarke and Hagen Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, NC. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at 3 p.m., at Victory Baptist Church, 2360 Bolling Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC, and will be officiated by Pastor Jeremy Kobernat of Victory Baptist Church and Pastor Ray Haskett of Calvary Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, VA. The service will also be live streamed at www.vbcrr.org. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, NC.
