JIM WILLIAM IVEY

252-537-4742

Jim William Ivey transitioned into heaven October 5, 2021, joining his mother, father and brother. Jim was born on May 24, 1945 at Roanoke Rapids Hospital to James and Virginia Ivey, the second born of three children. Jim attended Elementary and High School in Roanoke Rapids. Jim was active for many years in the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, participating in choir and seasonal plays. Following High School graduation in 1963 Jim left his home town for Franklin Springs, Ga to attend Emanual College where initially he wanted to pursue a teaching degree. After a short time at Emanual College Jim discovered his growing interest in voice, theater and a new interest in floral design.

Following college Jim joined the Army in 1967. Following basic training Jim was assigned a tour of duty in Germany where he traveled throughout Europe and finished his military commitment in Vietnam. Upon separation from the Military in 1970 Jim worked at Philip Morris in Richmond, Virginia, but soon realized his passion was really in floral design, theater and music.

Jim opened a small floral shop in Richmond and later moved the business to Conway NC. After further developing his business model, Jim purchased Roanoke Floral "on the avenue" in Roanoke Rapids. Jim was known for his beautiful floral designs and exceptional customer service to those he served in Roanoke Rapids, Weldon, Littleton and other surrounding areas.

Jim also became involved in local theater, contributing his theatrical talents to local stage shows and seasonal outdoor pageants. In addition, Jim often had the opportunity to share his voice through song during church services, at weddings and funerals in the Roanoke Rapids area and beyond. Jim culminated his involvement in local theater when he became intricately involved in the stage show "Grandma and Me" when he shepherded several local thespians "on the road" traveling from Roanoke Rapids to Chicago and other cities.

Jim was proceeded in death by his parents James and Virginia Ivey and his brother Lloyd "Sonny" Ivey. Jim is survived by his sister Betty Ivey Studley (husband Dennis), nieces Jamie Klinefelter (husband Jeff), Nichole Quindel (fiancé Ron), Sarah Carter (husband Chris), Gay Parrish (husband Keith), Jennifer Byrum (husband Joey), nephews John Studley (wife Kristen), David Groves (wife Terri) and many great nieces and nephews.

The Family will receive at Wrenn Clarke & Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service, Saturday, October 16, 2021, from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. Funeral services will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel, at 2:00 PM, with Dr. Dennis W. Gregory, Sr. Officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery Roanoke Rapids, NC.
