Marjorie (Jo) Medlin Jordan

Marjorie (Jo) Medlin Jordan, age 82, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Ashley Gardens Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Charleston, SC.

Jo was born in Weldon, North Carolina, daughter of the late DeLeon Ray Medlin and Elizabeth Hamill Medlin.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 57 years, Wayne Jordan, her brothers PD and Willie, her sister Jean, and her grandson, Ryan Jordan.

She was a strong, kind, caring woman who always had a warm meal and funny story for anyone that visited her.  Jo hated strawberries and made the best oatmeal ever.  Adventurous and spunky, she embraced challenges and found creative ways to overcome them.  She whistled, hummed or sang constantly whenever doing chores, crocheting, or cooking. Always in a good mood, she often liked to play pranks and tell jokes to light up a room. She even created a character named “Suzy” to entertain others.

Jo’s greatest joy was serving her Lord Jesus and loving others.  She delighted in loving her children, grands and great grands. They found great joy in their nanny.  Family and friends remember her giving them the sign language for I love you every time they saw her.  Her love for others extended way beyond her family.  No distance was too far for her to travel, no difficulty too difficult to face to support those she loved.  She founded the Prayer Box Ministry to care for the poor and the needy, pastored 8th Street Church and taught theology.  Jo even ran for mayor one time.

Jo was a powerful prayer warrior and people loved to call her to pray for them.  She loved touching heaven with her prayers and she did touch heaven when she prayed.

She is survived by her sons Dennis (Debbie), Dallas (Penny) and daughter Dee (Joe) Lewis who lovingly cared for her mom the last four years of her life.  Survivors also include 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 12, at 11:00 at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Chad Jordan officiating.  Arrangements are under the care of Wrenn Clarke & Hagan Funeral Home.
