Tracy Frances Gibson Knight, 62, died Thursday, September 30th 2021 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC.

Born June 18, 1959 in Roanoke Rapids, Tracy was the third and youngest child of William Freeman Gibson and Merle Harper Gibson. She married Floyd Hampton Knight on January 6th, 1980. She was a dedicated wife, a tremendous mother to her only child, Joshua Bradford Knight, and a loving grandmother. Tracy was a talented writer of short stories and poetry, garnering awards in several state competitions. She enjoyed an active lifestyle and was dedicated to daily exercise. She especially enjoyed biking through coastal towns like Manteo and Southport. The beach was her calling, and she found peace in the sands of Coquina Beach and Ocracoke Island. But perhaps her greatest passion was the care of homeless animals. Whether through organizations or on her own, she participated in the rescue of countless stray cats. She was compassionate, thoughtful, resilient, and ever humble, and she treasured her family and friends.

Tracy was preceded in death by her parents, William Freeman Gibson and Merle Harper Gibson, and her brother Marc Stephen Gibson, all of Roanoke Rapids, NC.
